Dear guests, ladies and gentlemen, online friends, hello everyone!

First of all, on behalf of Huawei, I welcome everyone to participate in Huawei Connect 2020. I also take this opportunity to express my heartfelt thanks to all new and old friends who continue to support Huawei.

In all, this is our fifth year together in Shanghai. In 16 years, we look forward to the vision of an intelligent society and call on global partners to build a Costa Rican ecosystem. In 17 years, we proposed to be one of the world’s five clouds. In 18 years, Huawei released an AI strategy, and in 19 years we fully elaborated on computing. Strategy. This year, 5G will be deployed globally on a large scale; these five technologies and five opportunities have brought together unprecedentedly. The theme of my speech today is: “5 machines” synergy to create new value in the industry.”

Everyone knows that Huawei is facing great difficulties now. Continuous suppression has brought great pressure to our operations, and survival is our main line. Alexandre Dumas once said: “All the wisdom of mankind is contained in these two words: waiting and hope.” We see that the ICT industry is facing huge opportunities for development, and governments and enterprises are fully digitized and intelligent. Huawei hopes to open a new chapter with its partners.

We see that the digital economy is the main theme of economic growth. The report of the Oxford Economics Institute shows that the digital economy has long become the main engine of growth, not only the growth of the digital industry itself, but also the digital growth of the industry brought about by digital technology. One dollar of digital technology investment can bring about three dollars of industry digital growth. Take China as an example. Last year, the added value of China’s digital economy accounted for about one-third of GDP, but its contribution to growth reached two-thirds. We see that new digital demands from governments and enterprises continue to emerge.

In Huawei’s view, the foundation of the digital economy is connectivity and computing. 5G and the Internet of Things are connection technologies; cloud and AI represent computing technologies. Everyone is familiar with Moore’s Law, and computing power has become more powerful and cheaper over time. Metcalfe’s law tells us that the value of the network multiplies as the number of connections increases. The density of the connection multiplied by the accuracy of the calculation is the strength of the digital economy. The integration of connectivity and computing will change various industries such as transportation, finance, and energy, and create new value for society.

Falling into specific government and corporate scenarios, we have seen changes in connectivity. 1G to 4G have solved the problem of people-to-people connectivity, and 5G has opened a new era of interconnection of all things; the focus of computing has gradually shifted to AI, which is indeed real. Value is created in the main business of the government and enterprises. Connections and calculations need to be deeply integrated with the industry, find scenarios that can be implemented, align the pain points in the production system, and quickly create value through the combination of ICT technology and industry knowledge. When we bring these scenes together, we can trickle into a river and gradually complete the grand blueprint.

Let’s share a few cases below.

First, let’s look at the case of the coking industry. Coking is the conversion of coal into coke. In this process, coal blending is the key, which determines the quality, price and cost of coke. The current coal blending mainly relies on manual deployment by old experts, which is inefficient and difficult to optimize. Huawei and Henan Xinlei cooperated to build an intelligent coal blending model through AI technology and expert experience, which effectively improved accuracy, efficiency and stability. It is estimated that this system can save 15 yuan/ton in coking costs, which can save Xinlei 27 million yuan per year. Looking at the entire coking industry in China, we assume that 10 yuan per ton will be saved, which will also bring about 6 billion yuan in cost savings for the entire industry.

And this is just a small scene in a subdivided industry. Let’s look at an example of a logistics park. Shanghai Kangqiao Logistics Park covers an area of ​​100,000 square meters. In the past, the degree of informatization and automation was low, and inventory was completely reliant on manual labor, which took one month at a time; unplanned vehicle scheduling caused congestion and serious detention; there were also problems such as cargo congestion.

In response to these challenges, Huawei and SF DHL have made smart upgrades to the logistics park. Relying on Huawei’s smart park digital platform, they have connected more than 20 business systems to achieve smart berth management, warehouse management, asset management, etc., and asset inventory efficiency. The efficiency of vehicle traffic and parking spaces have been greatly improved, and the overall operation has increased by 30%.

In recent years, city managers have embraced intelligence even more firmly than enterprises. Take Shenzhen as an example. In the past few years, the sense of gain and happiness of enterprises and citizens has really improved. Smart city is a huge system project. In the construction of Shenzhen Smart City, Huawei leveraged its technical advantages in 5G, cloud, AI and other fields, and joined hundreds of partners to help the municipal government management service command center open up 42 commissions and offices. The bureau’s business system, more than 100 types of data, has constructed the city’s 1+10+N integrated command system. Later, Mayor Chen Rugui of Shenzhen will share relevant information in his speech.

Just now we have seen the advanced practices of enterprises, parks and cities. We believe that more governments and enterprises will be able to enjoy the dividends brought by technology in the next stage. In the past few years, Huawei has completed a certain technological accumulation in the ICT field. Next, our focus is to work with our partners to apply these technologies to all walks of life, provide scenario-based solutions according to different needs, help enterprises achieve commercial success, and help the government achieve industry, benefit the people, and achieve good governance. Connection, computing, cloud, AI and industry applications will constitute five major opportunities for the entire industry. We hope to create new value in the industry with our partners through the “5 machines” collaboration.

Next, I will share with you Huawei’s phased progress and business strategies in the four areas of connectivity, computing, cloud and AI. Let me focus on how to support partners, create industry applications, strengthen the supply chain, and expand the industry.

First, let’s take a look at the connection, which is the foundation of the digitalization of government and enterprises. At present, digitalization of various industries has entered the production system, and the demand for connection has also undergone tremendous changes. For example, mines, ports, and factories all require higher bandwidth. For another example, smart manufacturing in different industries requires different delays and reliability, which requires the network to provide a differentiated experience and also have SLA guarantees. . In order to meet these needs, Huawei has put forward the concept of intelligent connection, creating a ubiquitous gigabit, deterministic experience and ultra-automated network. How to do it will be explained in detail in the keynote tomorrow, my colleague Wang Tao.

As we all know, diversified scenarios such as big data, artificial intelligence, HPC, etc. have generated diverse computing needs, and a single architecture can no longer meet. We need diversified computing power synergy to meet new demands. Huawei is committed to providing customers with diversified computing power and adopts a software and hardware decoupling design to adapt to different processors, including X86 and Kunpeng. In the next two days’ agenda, my colleagues Hou Jinlong and Deng Taihua will give a detailed introduction.

Cloud is the best platform for unleashing computing power and the digital base of the smart world. Three years ago, at this meeting, Huawei proposed one of the five clouds to be the smart world. Commit to long-term strategic investment in public cloud. After 3 years of continuous efforts, Huawei Cloud currently has 23 regions around the world and has developed more than 1.5 million developers. This is not a sigh of relief for our cloud team, but more pressure, because they have to challenge higher goals. Facing the future, we will further improve the hybrid cloud solution to meet the complex needs of government-enterprise transformation and become the first choice for customers’ intelligent upgrade.

AI technology has developed rapidly in the past few years. We have also made a lot of attempts to apply AI to the main business systems of government and enterprises. For example, Shenzhen Airport has launched the “One Face Travel” whole airport, where differentiated security checks have increased the efficiency by 60%; during the epidemic, AI was used in clinical CT-assisted diagnosis, shortening the viewing time from 12 minutes to seconds ; Applied to financial anti-fraud, the risk warning time is shortened to minutes, making impossible possible. Tomorrow, my colleague Jia Yongli will share with you how to truly integrate AI and the main business system through knowledge-driven and data-driven to solve key problems.

Next, we focus on industry applications. In my opinion, connection and calculation are a bit like electricity more than 100 years ago. From only providing lighting to household appliances and industrial equipment, earth-shaking changes have taken place in various industries, pushing human beings into the electrification era. In this process, compared with the scale of the electric power industry, household and industrial electrification has created dozens or even hundreds of times the industrial scale. In 2016, we proposed to build a Costa Rican ecosystem to enable partners to expand the market, and let Huawei’s partners, like electrical companies in the power era, become the biggest beneficiaries of the new value chain. In this exhibition, the partners exhibited many application samples, and everyone is welcome to visit.

Here I will briefly introduce you a few short stories. First, let’s look at an example of a partner and Huawei through business innovation to jointly expand the market. Tektronix Education is a traditional IT training organization. Through cooperation with Huawei Cloud, Tektronix Education transforms ICT education enablers. Huawei Cloud provides technical solution innovation and business realization support for Tektronix Education. In 2020, Tektronix Education’s carefully selected transaction volume in the cloud market exceeded 80 million, a year-on-year increase of more than 8 times. This is just a typical representative. Up to now, Huawei Cloud has gathered more than 13,000 consulting partners and more than 5,000 technology partners worldwide. Huawei is committed to helping more partners like Tektronix Education to achieve business innovation and rapid growth, and achieve customer success as well as its own business success.

In strengthening the supply chain, we advocate growing together with suppliers and sharing benefits. Here I give an example of the key components of a 5G base station. Xunqiang Electronics is a traditional radiator supplier. It began to cooperate with Huawei in 2016. In the process of transformation and development of 5G radiators, Xunqiang actively invested and achieved breakthroughs in surface treatment technology and other technologies with the help of Huawei. Through collaboration with Huawei, Xunqiang optimized processing procedures and logistics paths, greatly improved product quality, production efficiency and supply capabilities, and reduced costs by 30%. After three years of cooperation with Huawei, sales in Huawei have increased by more than 20 times. Huawei will continue to invest in improving the capabilities of partners, while ensuring that partners receive reasonable benefits and grow together with partners.

We advocate standing in the same boat through tough times and long-term cooperation. ChinaSoft International is such a model. ChinaSoft International has cooperated with Huawei for more than 10 years. As early as 2009, ChinaSoft International had already cooperated with Huawei. In 2014, it began to enter the international market. In 2017, he became the first partner of Huawei Cloud to help each other in the same boat. In 2019, he joined the Huawei Cloud Kunpeng Lingyun Partner Program. It can be said that in different periods of Huawei’s development, ChinaSoft International has continued to adhere to our strategic synergy, complementary interests, and we are in the same boat, and we will advance and retreat together at critical moments. At the same time, Chinasoft also received Huawei’s most powerful technical support to jointly expand into new markets. Taking Huawei Cloud cooperation as an example, ChinaSoft International has achieved a 9-fold increase in just 4 years. Only with deep roots can we flourish. We will continue to build a solid foundation for cooperation and grow together with willing and capable partners.
